Assumption Cross Country Parent Meeting

Day:  Tuesday, August 17, 2010

Time:  7:00 pm

Location:  Assumption HS Theatre

There is a mandatory Cross Country Parent Meeting scheduled for Tuesday evening, August 17 in the school's theatre.  At least one parent of each girl on the team must be in attendance (see our policy below for parents who may have conflicts).  New girls should also attend the Parent Meeting and we suggest (but don’t require) that returning girls consider attending as well.

Please understand that the Cross Country coaching staff greatly appreciates the support we get from our parents, and we acknowledge and appreciate the sacrifice of time and effort embodied in their attendance at a meeting like this.  Our Parent Meeting allows for a significant reduction in the “cost” of spreading information for our coaches and provides other collective benefits too.

A brief list of Parent Meeting agenda items includes (but is not limited to) the following:

·         Meet the Cross Country coaching staff

·         Meet a representative of the Athletic Department and hear about Athletic Dept policies

·         Hear about Cross Country team guidelines, rules and procedures

·         Hear about the Cross Country team’s important (special) activities

·         Receive a Fall Cross Country schedule, Spiritwear order form information, etc.

·         Return required paperwork (e.g. Drug-Alcohol-Tobacco form, Volunteer form, etc.)

·         Learn how you can help support the team, and hear about our Parent Group

The meeting will start promptly at 7:00 pm with introductions and we’ll make every effort to conclude around 8:00 pm (or as soon afterwards as possible).  We will be distributing some handouts via the team’s email distribution list and at practice.  Those handouts need to be returned at the Parent Meeting.  Please speak with us if you don’t receive those handouts.

Please note that we take attendance at this meeting very seriously and will consider dropping a girl from the roster if neither of her parents or “replacement parent” attends, and nothing is said.

For Parents with conflicts on Aug 17:  Our “replacement Parent policy”

We understand that conflicts can and do arise, making it difficult for every parent on our team to attend a mandatory meeting.  Therefore, we offer the following “replacement parent policy”.  If a parent cannot attend, then that parent may designate someone else to attend in their place.  In doing so, please do two things - (a) inform Coach Barry Haworth (preferably via email) that you cannot attend, and (b) inform Coach Haworth as to whom your replacement person will be.

Suitable replacements can include anyone from a daughter who’s on the team to another parent with a daughter on the team.  As we will be checking on everyone’s attendance, please remember to communicate any conflict and your replacement arrangements with Coach Haworth.  Parents who use replacements will also want to make sure that their replacement person returns the various (completed) handouts that we will have distributed in advance of the meeting as well as pick up an extra copy of the Cross Country handouts distributed at the Parent Meeting.
